10th November 2010
Dear friend,
I began writing this letter in October before I had the results of my first blood test which marks the beginning of the monitoring process through my recovery from breast cancer. It has proved positive, i.e. a low count, which I am thrilled about as it has given me the impetus to carry on in the direction I have been travelling with renewed force.
When I had my lumpectomy on the 29th June, the surgeon removed the sentinel lymph node in my armpit to see if the breast cancer had travelled, which it had. She wanted to remove more of my lymph nodes in case there was any further spread and if so, to get a better idea of how far it might have spread. I chose not to have this surgery as I knew that even if the results indicated there had been further spread, I would treat myself holistically. I therefore wanted to keep my lymph system intact as it plays a part in the clearing out of disease and I didn't want to put myself through another operation. It was time to build my strength and focus my resources on healing myself as I knew from the moment I was diagnosed, the power exists in me to regain balance and rid myself of the disease. That's not to say it is an easy ride.
What a journey of transformation it has been. My relationship to my body, to food, to health, to life, to friendship, to motherhood have all changed in a way the deepest part of me always wanted and knew could be. I have been supported hugely both by friends, especially ones who have walked a similar path, the community here at Osho Leela, my family and various professionals in the holistic health field. Shakeela (Fiona Burns) has been my main guide. She is a Herbalist with great knowledge about cancer having recovered from it twice, once as a child and once as an adult. I have been living in Greenoaks which is the beautiful wooden house we built for Dhyano (Founder of Leela) and his family, which has been a truly healing place to focus and follow my rigorous daily schedule.
Without going into the details of what I am doing, (though I am happy to share it with anyone who would like to know more) de-toxing and profoundly building up my immunity requires a good deal of resources including supplements, tonics, juices and tinctures, bodywork sessions and consultations with my Herbalist and other healers. I have now included the monitoring of my progress and all the processes I have chosen are unfortunately only available privately and therefore costly. So the grand total of what has been spent so far is £2600. This doesn't include the organic food costs which Osho Leela now provides.
I am clear I continue on this path. The blood test result shows there is still cancer in my system, and I need to lower the count. I will be tested again in January and in these next 3 months I will remain vigilant, keeping my health and healing as my primary focus. The costs I hope will remain approximately the same, although it is an uncertain road and there may be unforeseen treatments I need along the way. I would also like to put a reverse osmosis water system in my house to clean up our drinking water and this costs £600. With all this in mind I would like to raise £10,000.
I am asking for financial support to cover this amount and continue to make my life stress free while I am healing. If you would like and are able to support me financially the details are:
